HBM Juristen started in 2020 as a broad legal practice that supported clients in diverse areas of law. The generalist approach of the early period provided insight into the needs of different clients and made it clear where specialized knowledge could actually offer added value.
In 2021, an initial collaboration with a selected partner law firm was established. During that phase, international cases were still accepted on a limited basis. However, this collaboration formed an important foundation for further growth. In the years that followed, additional collaborations with lawyers were developed, through which international services were gradually expanded and deepened.
Until 2023, a significant portion of the work involved legal advice in family law cases, particularly divorce files and procedures where hearings played a central role. The continuous and relatively high influx of clients from outside the Netherlands was notable, contributing to an intensive work schedule. During that period, the practice was open seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with files and consultations regularly extending until 11:00 PM. This approach was appropriate for the demand at the time but also laid the groundwork for a later restructuring.
In 2024, the opening time was reduced to 21: 00 and this year the service is further concentrated until the afternoon hours, so that work can be carried out carefully, controlled and with a higher degree of specialization. This development marks a conscious choice of quality over quantity, more manageable litigation and a clearer delineation of the jurisdictions in which practice excels.
HBM Lawyers now focuses on a number of core specialties, including complex civil litigation, international cases, Moroccan law, mediation and damages and liability issues. The contemporary practice operates from substantive depth, an international orientation and a consistent focus on quality and diligence.
Where HBM Juristen started as a general practice in 2020, the firm now stands for specialist legal services that match the current legal reality at home and abroad. This development reflects continuous professional growth and a clear course towards sustainable, high-quality and specialised legal aid.
